Thanks for tuning in to this week's edition on Beers with Ben! This week, I write about the difference between a buyer's market and a seller's market, show you a few of my favorite properties on the market right now, and give you a list of prime brunch locations in Columbia Heights! (Come visit me at 1431 11th St NW on Sunday at my open house. I always have a fun time!)
Topic of the week: Buyer's Market Vs. Seller's Market
1) What is a Buyer's Market?: A buyer's market occurs when there is more supply than demand. This means there are more people looking to sell houses than there are people looking to buy houses. In a buyer's market, buyers are more likely to get a better deal, whereas sellers may have to accept a lower price than they want to sell their home for or put more of an effort into staging or providing incentives.
2) What is a Seller's Market?: A seller's market occurs when the demand is larger than the supply. This is ideal for sellers because they will usually get a great price for their home in this type of market. A seller's market usually means the buyer will have to spend more to get what they want.
3)What type of market is Washington, DC?: Washington, DC is most definitely a seller's market. Many times, buyers are competing against several other buyers when submitting offers. It is important to choose a good agent who has experience both creating competitive offers and negotiating in these types of situations.
